(Poems) – cleaning – 99 words

I washed the sheets of my bed (our bed) until they stopped smelling of you

I threw away every last little piece of you that you left in my room

I broke the chain of the necklace you gave me and hid the bracelet that matched yours

I deleted every picture of you from my phone, every text

I tried to distract myself, to move on

but my love, my arms still ache for you

and my eyes still see you in everything

and my heart still loves you

and I still miss you

why can’t I be free of you?
